I may start redirecting my old domain soon to here. I’m finding I like the idea of not having to upkeep the code myself.. Some time when I have more time.. I may go back to running a blog myself with all the fancy add-ons.
One of the toughest things about keeping Allison happy is when I’m trying to get caught up on housework, and she is playing by herself.. there is a constant barrage of “look at this!”, “I’m pretending..”, and so on. It just took me a while to realize that many forms of play don’t count unless she has an audience. Like the old philosophical question..”if a tree falls in a forest does it make a sound?”. If Allison pretends she is singing.. it doesn’t work if there is nobody to pretend to hear it. Understanding that she needs someone to know what she is pretending makes it easier to be patient with all the updates as she plays.
It was a late flight with 2 kids.. June 2nd 10:55pm at PDX Flight 2624 on Horizon Air. I left my camera bag complete with Canon Rebel XT, My Video camera and a few hundred in extras. About halfway home in the van I realized my mistake and thought for a moment about human nature.. I’m not getting my camera back. I have let family and the nice people at Horizon Air give me hope. It would be silly not to go through the steps to get it back from lost and found if someone turned it in. It’s a little extra painful to know that it had to be a Horizon Air employee that kept it. When we travel we always let every one else on the plane get off first.. so only the flight crew was still on the plane when I left the camera behind. I did have some pictures and video that can not be replaced.. but I’m also thinking about the pictures and video of my kids that I can’t take in the near future because I lost the camera and video camera. It makes me sick.. and money is more than just a little tight now. It will probably take me years to replace what I lost.
I am uploading a lot of pictures from the Funeral service in hood river. It’s a start. I will also start digging through all my older photos and uploading pictures of Grandma as time allows. I hope family will help identify other family in the pictures so I can get them properly tagged. There was family at the service that I had not yet met.. and many I had not seen in over 20 years! There were relatives that I new when they were young that now have grandkids!
I just received news that Inez Henry, my last living grandparent has died tonight. I have been expecting the call. She was ready to go. I shall miss her very much.
